“This project is exactly what the Church of England is about- placing a beautiful and valuable resource at the heart of the Norris Green community, for the worship of God and the service of all. I’m proud to be associated with it!” Paul Bayes, Bishop of Liverpool
Christ Church is building a new multi-purpose centre to serve the people of Norris Green and provide a new home for worship in the parish. We need your help to make this ambition a reality!
Christ Church has served the community in Norris Green from the time the estate was first built. Sadly, in 2006, the old Christ Church building and halls had to be demolished due to irreparable damage. Since then, however, the previously exhausted congregation found a new lease of life and has grown significantly in number as well as in community involvement. In fact, we are now outgrowing our current spaces. The current Community Centre (i.e. the old vicarage!) is used nearly everyday of the week, hosting a number of important activities- a Foodbank, children’s and youth groups, a summer play scheme and holiday clubs, coffee mornings and craft groups, healthy eating and confidence & self-esteem classes, along with midweek fellowship groups, worship and prayer meetings. On Sundays, we meet to worship at Leamington School- but even there our children and toddlers’ activities are fast-filling the space available.
Our hope is that through building a new Church and Community Centre on the site of the old church, we might better serve the needs of our community and provide a spiritual home for those wanting to know and follow Jesus Christ.
